When I was in college I joined a sorority and I have to admit, the idea of spending all my time with 100+ other women was not something I was jumping for joy over. After all, I had recently come home to find my roommate wearing my sweater while putting together her face, using my makeup. Is this what a sisterhood was all about? What we need today is a new type of sorority. Evatopia is working to bring women together in a sorority of creatives.

I learned that boundaries are important because without them, one can feel like their basic rights and privacies are being violated. Yet later, I also realized women “get” each other in a way that extends far beyond our relationships with men. The sisterhood is alive and well, especially among female indie entrepreneurs.

Through the indie book world, I’ve met so many supportive women who would gladly give the sweater off their back to another author. And you know why? Because that other author will offer something in return…a tweet, a post, a resource…which is how our social media relationships grow and prosper.

Evatopia started out representing screenwriters and novelists. Today, we not only work with authors, but also creative women artisans who want to reach that same audience that the indie author has cultivated. Our audience of women is clamoring to meet other creative women.

This isn’t college days when someone would set their sights on a guy and view other women as a threat. Now, our audience is shared. The women who read indie authors are the same ones who are interested in trying out indie soaps, chocolates, perfumes, and more.
